Liquidity

Liquidity is a measure of the extent to which a business has cash to meet immediate and short-term obligations, or assets that can be quickly converted to do this.

Statement of financial position – the balance sheet

A balance sheet provides a summary of the assets and liabilities of a business at a particular moment in time. This means the business can see what it owns (assets) and what it owes (liabilities) usually at the end of every financial year.

The balance sheet for Mulberry, the leather goods brand, is shown in Table 7 while the balance sheet showing an example of liabilities is shown in Table 8.
